2010 Motorcycle Miracle Mission

Motorcycle Miracle Mission finishes with engines revving

On July 23, 17 motorcycle riders journeyed from Oak Brook, Ill. to Iowa City Children’s Hospital for the 3rd Annual Motorcycle Miracle Mission, to raise funds for sick kids. This group consisted of Ace corporate team members and Ace vendor partners, and they raised more than $45,000 for Children’s Miracle Network during the three-day ride.

What the riders accomplished

Through sunshine and rain this elite group of riders was able to visit two children’s hospitals and donate $10,000 to each. They also stopped by some Ace stores along the way and were greeted by their Ace families with great enthusiasm and encouragement.

The Ace Foundation would like to thank these riders, who did an amazing job of fundraising:

  • Frank Allemana
  • Elizabeth Bishop
  • John Brunson
  • Ron Burke
  • Keith French
  • Joe Furlane
  • Bob Hartman
  • Amy Marshall
  • Dave Lange
  • Jan Lange
  • Thomas "Sam" Mason
  • Dale Schmidt
  • Jeff Schutte
  • Julie Walsh
  • Bob Sypniewski

One rider made a long trip … to make a long trip

Many of the riders were local but a few traveled far to participate in this event. One rider journeyed more than 2,500 miles on their Harley to join the group. Sam Mason, a driver from the Prince George RSC, made the trip from Virginia all the way to Chicago. Sam then rode the 600 miles from Oak Brook to Iowa City – and then made the trip back to Prince George. Sam took a week of personal time to make life better for CMN kids and their families.

Sam was the only rider from an RSC to participate. He talked a lot about his life as an Ace driver, how much he enjoyed the people he works with (retailers and RSC staff), and what a great company Ace is to work for. A special thanks goes to Sam for his time and dedication. He left a lasting impression on the entire group – not only of himself, but of the Prince George RSC as well. Everyone hopes he returns next year.

Thanks to everyone who donated or bought a raffle ticket

The Ace Foundation thanks everyone who made donations and helped these riders with fundraising. And also to those who participated in the raffle at the Ace corporate cookout.

The winners of the raffle are:

  • Mary Richmond won two tickets to a Black-Eyed Peas concert.
  • Mike Hebbard won four tickets to see the Chicago Cubs take on the Pittsburg Pirates.
  • Joe Furlane won the Richard Petty Driving Experience.
